INDIVIDUAL HEALTH INSURANCE PLANS – THE WINDS OF CHANGE

As we enter the final weeks of 2013, there has been much activity surrounding the individual health insurance market.  And you may have been right in the middle of some adjustments or staying the course.

Over the last few months the insurance carriers may have offered you an opportunity to “renew early” effective December 1, 2013.  By doing so, you will be able to maintain your current plan design and provider network along with a new twelve month rate.  If you have not seen your letter from your insurance carrier on this opportunity, please contact me ASAP.

Or you may have a “grandfathered” plan.  This means that you have had the same plan since March 23, 2010.  And now, when your plan renews in 2014, you will not have to move into an Affordable Care Act(ACA) compliant plan.  You will be able to maintain the same plan and provider network, but you will be seeing a new twelve month rate.  If you do want to make changes to your plan, you will need to move into an ACA compliant plan.

Or you may have recently applied for an ACA plan effective January 1, 2014.  The insurance carriers have introduced their new ACA products.  These plans come with the Essential Health Benefits, rating structures and new application process.  And they can be purchased on and off the Exchange.

I am able to assist with any of the items listed above.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have about your specific insurance plan.

Thank you again for allowing me to work with you on your insurance needs.  Have a happy holiday season.
